FIBS

Electronic Sound Album of the Year

“The balance of avant garde and pop sensibility [is] at the heart of what makes Meredith’s music so engaging… A sprawling spectrum that hits a spot somewhere between the irresistible and the intriguing” Loud & Quiet ★★★★

“If everything was already turned up to eleven on ‘Varmints', consider it cranked to twelve on ‘FIBS’" - DIY ★★★★

“A thrilling testament to Meredith’s seemingly limitless capacity for reinvention” Q ★★★★

FIBS is my third album, released on Moshi Moshi / Black Prince Fury in 2019. It was shortlisted for the Mercury Music Prize in 2020.

VARMINTS

“One of the most innovative minds in modern British music… Varmints is a knockout”Pitchfork (Best New Music)

”Silly, striking and smart… Meredith in a nutshell” The Guardian ★★★★★

“A talent like no other” DIY ★★★★

My debut album was released on Moshi Moshi/Black Prince Fury in 2016 and won the Scottish Album of the Year Award.

TUESDAY (OST)

“powerful and probing, score standout ‘Killing Spree’ is a uniquely realised piece of music” Clash

“Anna Meredith’s score also add considerably to the success of this impressive achievement” Deadline

My original score for Daina O Pusić’s extraordinarily moving directorial debut TUESDAY is available now. The film stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Lola Petticrew, and Leah Harvey.

Throughout the score, I’ve tried to push into cathartic sonic terrain… exploring anxiety and tension through extended cello techniques coupled with bell synths and unconventional use of auxiliary percussion. I’ve tried to keep to this textural palette as consistently as possible to give the score a cohesive identity.

THE END WE START FROM (OST)

“Anna Meredith’s score brings the right blend of classical familiarity and experimental abrasion to the film - flute and cello combining with electronics to create a deep atmosphere… from ominousness to peacefulness” The Times

My BIFA-nominated score for The End We Start From is available to stream or download everywhere.

I felt clear from the start that the soundworld needed to be both intimate and large-scale and felt instinctively clear from the outset that it should be based around flute and electronics. I wanted to give the music the distinctive voice Mahalia Belo (director) was after and thought that working on a breath-focused soundworld would complement the dichotomy between large and small-scale humanity (and water connections!) that the film addresses so well.

BUMPS PER MINUTE: 18 STUDIES FOR DODGEMS

I was so excited by the 18 new pieces I’d written for the Somerset House DODGE installation in 2021 that I wanted to make special new versions for an album release.

Bumps Per Minute: 18 Studies for Dodgems is an album of bombastic and off-kilter instrumentals and is designed for you to skip, repeat and trigger your way through the album looking for zesty juxtapositions (or listen straight through!).

NUC

“Hugely enjoyable… often in startling ultra-modern fashion” Electronic Sound

"A remarkable, uncompromising collection that shows the composer and ensemble to be uniquely perfect collaborators" Buzz ★★★★★

Yields abundant fruitThe Times ★★★★

“An album that continually surprises and enlightens” BBC Music Magazine ★★★★

NUC is a collection of my string quartet pieces, recorded and released by the Ligeti Quartet. The album includes my works for both quartet, and quartet & electronics and includes tracks such a Haze and Nautilus re-arranged by the Ligeti Quartet viola player Richard Jones (whose previous collaborations include Alex Turner, Jessie Ware and The Waeve), in collaboration with me!

Available on limited edition 12” vinyl, CD and download featuring artwork by Eleanor Meredith and lettering by Martin McGrath.

ANNO

“quite simply exquisite, confirming Meredith as one of the most interesting young pioneers in the increasingly intertwined worlds of classical and electronic” Irish Times ★★★★

“An inspired and fruitful fusion” Uncut ★★★★

“traverses genre-boundaries without so much as a downwards glance” iPaper ★★★★

Performed with the Scottish Ensemble, ANNO is my project combining Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and my own new music for string orchestra and electronics.

It was released on Moshi Moshi Records in August 2018 and also exists as an immersive performance piece.

EIGHTH GRADE (OST)

My debut soundtrack for Bo Burnham’s debut feature film Eighth Grade (watch the film - it’s a beaut).

The soundtrack includes everything I wrote for the film plus some bonus bits including MIDI demos. It also exists as a live score featuring 4 musicians playing the entire score live to picture.
